There are NO RUBBISH excuses! Client: Cheshire East Council

Is a hard hitting campaign to reduce fly-tipping, littering and dog fouling.

We worked with Cheshire East Council’s marketing team to engage with the community and raise awareness of environmental crimes in Crewe.

The Keep Crewe Clean – #NO RUBBISH excuses! brand and campaign is part of Cheshire East Council’s 12-month community action plan to change behaviour and attitudes, encourage community pride and improve neighbourhoods across the town.

Although it’s still early days, Cheshire East Council has reported…

“The campaign is definitely having a positive effect and we’ve had around 40 calls for each of the last two months where people have reported an environmental crime issue and directly referenced the campaign.

“We are also getting many more hits on our norubbishexcuses webpage and have seen an increase in people reporting environmental crimes through the official channels.”

We created a dual brand - Keep Crewe Clean and Keep Cheshire East Clean to ensure the campaign could be used county wide after the initial roll out in Crewe.

Alongside the brand we created a multi-messaged and themed approach targeting different audiences including: older people, families, people who don’t speak English as a first language and people living in houses of multiple occupation. As a result we also translated the main educational campaign into five additional languages: Bengali, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian and Slovakian.

Audiences were targeted using a different mix of creative, media and messages. The campaign’s themes are: engagement, education and enforcement and all required a different approach. Media and engagement included: community events, social media, recycling wheels, billboards, bin stickers, lamp post posters, dog poo bagholders, translated posters, incident tape and frisbees.
